A friend of mine that splits a couple of tables with us at a local firehouse gunshow, brought in some goodies today. First being a pretty nice China Banner Mauser with a really fine bore and the second being a very nice 1943 M38 Mosin (I'll post pics in the next post). The Mauser has a duffel bag cut on it and a mis-matched bolt, but, I really don't mind. I was looking for a new 8 m/m shooter and would have gladly picked up another Russian re-furb for what I paid for the Banner. I have to check the headspace tonight and do a little cleaning on it, but, I'm real happy to log this one in-SDH:D

Out of curiosity - how do you know it's Chinese? Is it so marked?

Had the remains of one with the "gearwheel" KMT mark around the reverse swastika. These Chinese Mausers get less respect than Carcanos, yet they are extremely historic firearms. Most probably saw a great deal of active service in a variety of conflicts.

I'm going with the working as well as the historical. I gotta shoot it, if only for a few time's. I'll let my kids figure out if they want to keep it for history when the time comes-SDH

Blue book has them logged @$900.00 in mint and $200.00 for the bottom feeders, I got about an 80% rig, I cleaned it up and it came out real nice-SDH
