Newbie with mystery barrel

Hi there!

I used to lurk occasionally on the old forums, but with the new setup I thought I would register. I am the same person who uses this handle elsewhere BTW.

Anyway, I was hoping someone could help me ID this 1911 barrel. Any help getting a proper ID would be appreciated.

Not too long ago I had a 1916 era Colt manufactured Norwegian contract, one of the first 400 sent over before Norway started producing their own under license. The barrel was marked in a similar fashion as yours with out the boxed T marks and had a similar high link base. So, while I don't know for certain where your barrel came from, my thought is that it might be from a foreign contract pistol from that era.

i was thinking the same thing, however, thet boxed T looks like a Canada marking,
iv seen the same mark on lend lease 1917 rifles, that went to Canada

My Norwegian 1914 is marked in the same place with the last three of the serial number preceded by a dot - ".304". They might have used the first four up to 9999 then gone to the dot to indicate only the last three. Mine has the letter N instead of the boxed T. So, Norwegian? Not certain but a good possibility.

It is indeed from a Kongsberg M1914 Colt.

What confused me is that the font of the numbers looked different from the other parts. On top of that, while the last three digits match, the first does not. Given that this one came with an un-numbered slide stop, I can't rule out a rebuild, but why the heck would they swap in a barrel from an older pistol just because the numbers match

Its later in the production run (1928) so the bushing, spring cap, and spring guide are not numbered.
