This is my latest project, a Model 1870-87-15 converted to 22 rimfire. I used an old Win 52 take off barrel cut down to match the original barrel with the front and rear sections of the Vetterli barrel attached to it. Bolt was modified with a new head for rimfire. This rifle was first a 10.4mm single shot, converted to magazine fed 10.4, converted to 6.5mm magazine fed, now converted to 22 rimfire single shot. New model# M1870-87-15-09.

It shoots very well. I installed a set screw on the rear site to provide fine adjustment. Many say these rifles are unsafe to shoot as a 6.5mm but as a 22 it will provide much enjoyment at the range.

Nice, you put alot time into that one. At least now you can enjoy it with it blowing up in your face. At least that what I hear about these. Unsafe to shot with 6.5 loads.

The Italians made one of these though they used a 17.5 inch barrel.

Wow ,this is really something. Must have been a lot of work. Pretty heavy for a 22 ,it should shoot good. don in fl

Not exactly. The Italian implementation of the Vetterli system was a centerfire design, not rimfire like the Swiss.
