What is the correct length of the 33/40 cleaning rod ?

The early G.33/40 rods were left over Czech 16/33 rods. This type would have the tapper behind the head. They are a scaled down version of the VZ24 rod. Those produced to German specifications have the standard K98k form, only they are 28 cm long (11").
