Took some of the men from my church to the range yesterday. While watching some of the guys shoot my carbine, I noticed an ejection pattern of from 3 o'clock to 5 o'clock. Didn't think any more about it until "Lefty" took a couple fired cases right in the forehead, ouch! The load is a hard cast 105gr bullet with a FMJ profile and 12.5gr of 2400 powder. Likely cause?

Being a left handed shooter.

I couldn't pass that up.

Jim is correct. They were designed for righties. You can try a different style ejector or switch to a late model slide.

There is a brass deflector. I bought two 20 years ago so my left handed cousin could shoot one of my carbines. Still have them.

But if you want to reload, I noticed it does ding the brass when it hits.

I have also seen, but never used, a brass catcher. So I don't know how good they work.

The late model slide (sort of a hook over the operating handle towards the chamber) works best for me (a lefty). Next best for those "collector" pieces w/ old style parts is to wear a good sturdy hat! I have one carbine that will get you in the head whilst shooting both RH and LH !

The lefty Garand guys have it worse. Add an empty enbloc clip to dodge. Ouch!
