I found a nice way to reduce the pull on AK style triggers. It stared when I picked up a Romanian Drago with a 14lb+ trigger pull. I located the sear and engagement hook on the left side of the assembly and noticed it had a very large engagement area, i.e. two mating flats set against each other. Pulling the trigger pulls one of these flats up to the second, when sufficient pressure is applied the one surface over rides the second for ignition. I removed these components from the gun and set up a flat guide to trim down these flats using a 320 stone. I got them down to about 0.015" high on both sides then polished them to a mirror finish with a hard felt wheel and fine polishing grit. I re-assembled the unit and covered the entire trigger assemble with white grease (I live in a warm area) and put on the trigger gage, the first stage goes to 4.5 lbs and it breaks from the second at 7lbs. Good enough for most work. It could easily be made into a real sweet 4lb single stage, but, I don't want to mess with the original function of the gun. If you'd like to give it a shot and have any questions just send me a P.M. and I'll detail it for you-SDH:dancingbanana:

I'd be happy just to be able to buy and legally own an AK. Trigger pull be damned! LOL

I've never even seen an Ak (47, 74 what have ya ) for sale in Kanuckistan and I do a lot of looking. I think there are AK variants some restricted some not ie CZ858/s and VZ-58s although how closely related to AK's they are, I'll leave to our resident experts.
