3 born dates help required please guys

Guys if i may jump on the back of a previous posters request for "born" dates may i please ask you guys to clarify my 3 war "babies"

1 x Winchester.......serial number 1185378....barrel undated W proof marks

1 x Rock-Ola...........serial number 1712902...barrel Rock-ola 4-43

1 x Underwood.......serial number 2596413 ..S? in circle marking on flat angle of receiever just in front of recoil plate....barrel ribbed and underwood marked ?-43

My Underwood 2659753 barrel is dated 12-43.

Do you guys have to plug the gas system in the carbine and use them as "straight pulls" like the Saiga shooters in UK do?

Rangemaster..yes that is correct for all semi autos......for those of us lucky to hold a section 5 FAC (Firearms Certificate)....which is the bastion of most ex Military and Police personel........"joe" public can also hold an FAC if he / she is a member of a bonafide shooting club.

BUT...most M1 Garands and Carbines now in the hands of private ownership are now legally deactivated..NOT DEMILLED (i.e Receiver gas torched in half) like your version of demilling whereas in our UK lawful version of DE-ACTIVATION.. the firing pin is removed....the face of the bolt ground.....and the barrel is pinned and welded so it cannot chamber a round or eject a projectile from the end of the barrel and that is the bastion of all Re Enactors/Living Historians...but the saving grace is externally our "weapons" are complete and look great in a collection or as part of a living history display.

There is a tear in the corner of my eye as we speak. Pinned and welded. UGH! At least you 5 FAC boys can have some fun. I saw a video of a Brit shooting an Izhmash AK103 clone as a straight pull. He was actually much faster than a No.4, MKI shooter. I have seen our re-enactors that don't want BFAs (blank firing adapters) on the end of the muzzle, or don't want to ream, tap and blank plug a carbine do a maneuver with the index finger of the off-hand to work the action. I imagine you do somewhat the same.

I know Rangemaster and that is a huge problem for you guys in the land of the free.......but that is the ONLY way...90% of people here in the UK can own a gun..If and only IF it has been LEGALLY deactivated to current UK lawful specification......but beleive me we are as passionate about our "weapons" as most of you guys....I love my section 5 Rock-Ola...but My Underwood and "Winny" are purely set dressing.....but i will get some pictures at the weekend and you will see they "look" no different to yours.....except 90% dont go bang anymore......:-(
and there is a big swell in the UK to get them right with correct stocks..barrel bands...flip sights...bolts etc....
Its our LAW i am afraid..but dont laugh it off Rangemaster...many more Columbines and Virginia Techs as tragic as they were and i am deeply sorry and you guys may be forced join the Deactivated ranks i fear.....:-(

it only took the 2 tragedies at Hungerford and Dunblane here in the UK to force our weak governments hands and completely "knee jerk" react to them for us to be in the situation we are in

GUys i am sorry if i offended anyone with my last posting....i do apologise if i did..but it grinds my gears that sometimes we appear to be looked down upon as the majority of us cannot own live firing weapons and that our Deactivation laws specify what we can own........:banghead:

But that doesnt mean that we are any less passionate about our weapons collections and presentation and collections of accessories and uniforms and militaria and military vehicles of WW2.

Please guys i am all ears and open to the superb info this forum provides.......and wish to remain a part of it.

So may i ask for you guys to narrow down my 3 carbines to near exact dates of production.

A lot of the information that is in that book where the chart came from is wrong and that goes for the chart too.
