Looking for a picture I once saw

I did a Goodle Image search under both "Merrill's Marauders" and "M1 Carbine," but I haven't found it.

I am looking for a photo. It is a photo I saw years ago when I was young of a GI (I think one of the Marauders) with an M1 carbine (with stock pouch, if I recall right) and a web belt that was set up like a Garand belt, but was a pistol belt with a BUNCH of double carbine pouches on it. Considering the carbine was a favorite with the Marauders because of light weight, lots of ammo, and close quarter jungle fighting, it would make sense. Ten or twelve 15 rounders would be lots of handy firepower for them.

Anyone out there have this picture? I want it for my laptop screen saver. IT has to be a "Historical" pic for my school district to consider it appropriate. Our politically correct school district won't even arm the school police, though the gang members coming to school are often armed....

Regretably I don't have any pics but your quest brings to mind a Japanese-American gentleman i worked with some years ago who had enlisted in the Army from one of the detention camps they were put in. He was with Merrills raiders because he could serve as a translator if needed. He brought in some pics once to show us. So, if you find some, and theres a tiny little Japanese guy in baggy khakis, that may well be my friend.

Under google image search for Merrill's Marauder's I came up with the survivor's sasociation home page. IT DOES have pictures of interrogation of Japanese prisoners, and I think your friend is in the pictures! Check it out.

Hello, I found this one on the net while I was lookin for M1 cabine pics.

...it does appear to be preaty much a standard web pistol belt but has 5 snaps spread equal-distance around it. It holds 5 of the "stock pouches " side by side for 10mags or 150 rounds. There is also a narrow belt ( I think it would fit in the pants loops) with the 5 snaps too. There is also a small pouch which has the snap , said to be an effects bag or an explosives bag , that will also fit onto these belts. The narrow belt is quite common on e-bay but rare at shows. The pistol type web belt is flat rare as I've bought the only one I've seen ( but they may be hiding out in piles of regular web belts).

I have to see if I can find one of those belts with the 5 snaps! Next time someone sees one on E-Pay, let me know.

I have my dad's original pistol belt from Iwo Jima. (as well as other goodies like original maps of Iwo, etc.) It is a pistol belt with the single snap. I have a WW2 khaki Type I carbine pouch with snap that goes with it (it is on the stock of my carbine now) and a standard 1943-1944 issue khaki non-stock type, too. The belt has a single iron 3 inch ring on it, which he told me the signal corps guys had for snapping on safety belts for climbing poles. He was signal corps.

Here is a picture of The Lieutenant Blankenship 84th Infantry Division and Lieutenant Lucas 11th Armored Division during the battle of the Bulge. Notice Lucas has a pistol belt on with 3 carbine mag pouches on it. I would bet there is a 4th on the side we can't see and one on the stock of his carbine (not shown). He is obviously a line officer who uses his weapon, as evidenced by the plenitude of magazines!

In "The M1 Garand" by Tom Laemlein (Volume Two of the Classic American Small Arms at War), page 12, picture number 8, is a shot of a soldier with an M1 Garand. Caption reads "A rifleman of the 10th Mountain Division takes aim with his M1 with bayonet attached, Italy, 1944." Clearly shown are three Carbine belt pouches on his web belt being used to carry what appears to be the clips for the Garand.

I have seen pictures of the carbine pouch being used for Garand also. In this pic, though, you can see Lucas has carbine mags in them.
