I was thinking about a project to alter an AK type rifle into a Galil look-alike.

I was going to keep the 7.62x39 caliber.

What could I do to the rear sight/ gas block to make it look more Galil like.

If I mount a rear sight on the dust cover, I can remove the notch type rear sight that is standard on an AK, but the block it's mounted on still wouldn't look good.

I thought some here might have tried this. I would like some ideas.

Thanks,

There is a dust cover on the market with a scope mt on it I tried and a good friend has added a set of rear sights on a dust cover. you have to lock it down with set screws which in my case didn't lock down tight enough to keep the optics from moving every shot. My friend fared better but he drilled and tapped the back of the reciever where the piston spring locks in and iut stays tight. He also removed the front sight and replaced it with an AR front sight which he mounted at the top of the gas tube. It shoots real well. He shoots 1 1/2" groups at 100 constantly and has taken a chuck at over 300.
