    M-1A Scope Mount Problem

When shooting my SA M-1A with scope attached(2 screw mount) 1 out of 3 empties bounces off of the mount and back into the chamber hanging the bolt. If it does not do this the empty dents the next round and the round will not chamber. Any ideas? Super Match made in 1985. I bought it new. Low round count. Thanks for any help.

I had the same problem. Changing to a Bassett mount fixed that problem, but the rifle was still inaccurate. Same Bassett rig on my old HB USMC accurized Devine is great and never has the ejected case problem.

Or remove some material on the scope mount (often the charger guide replacement piece is the culprit) where the brass is hitting it. Observe the unit for brass marks and/or slowly cylce an empty case (maintain control of the case mouth w/ your finger) to see where its crashing. I've had to remove a bunch of metal from some charger guide replacement pieces to minimize case impingement. W/o knowing what your mount is, exactly, I can't get more specific.

Scope mount is SA 2 screw. But I have not liked it very much. Rifle is accurate with it just cannot fire over 3 rounds without hanging up on ejected case. Thanks

That's the one I have cut the snot out of!(Pardon the hanging participle.) Works fine after. You'll think the bevel will get into the scope mount screw hole before its spot on.

Unfortunately, I don't have one at hand. Pics possible but be prepared to wait if you really need some. I haven't really adapted to the 20th century, much less the 21st.
