    Let's try this ... quiz?

Lets try a kind of quiz. There are two of these out there right now on the auction block from two different sellers that are both misidentified, and I just had one walk in the shop yesterday that the owner also thought was something that it wasn't ... so I guess there is a need to point this out again.

    What do you see?

It is a replacement stock. The slight "V" notch in the rear of the cut causes many to think it is a Winchester stock.

    Bingo,...

I thought that should be pretty easy, but to see so many lately, I just thought maybe some folks needed a little refresher.

Regardless, I think we have a winner! Now don't go spending it all in one place there, Bill ...

Anyone know if it's new wood, or something like an Overton replacement stock?

    Not sure,...

I would have just called it an Overton replacement stock, but I haven't handled that much of the new stuff, so without seeing more I am not really sure. Maybe Rick would be more comfortable saying.

It looks to me like a Overton replacement unless someone banged it up to look angled like that. Is this one of those fat back porched ones that Overton made for thicker than usual. They resemble a HRA back end but carry the distinctive Partial V notch. Rick Bicon

I'm not sure he is trying to mislead anyone. He says in his description:

"M1icon Garand USGI stock with reproduction WRA GHD, ordnance stamp The circle P with serifs is original and faint".

I sure wish all sellers of fake stamped stocks would be so clear with their description..

Yes, he states it is a fake stamp but he also sais it is a Winchester stock which it is not.
