Gents I am not to familiar with the AR. as I am with US WWII weapons. Although I have owned a 16" Colt A1 CAR for over 20yrs. I was looking to buy an upper for my spare colt lower. Well I picked up a mint blue label today for $700 VS just a barreled upper for like 500-550. Well the thing was fairly clean but I like to go over my rifles. So upon inspection it has the usual Colt proofs on the barrel CMP 1/7 and on the bolt carrier it is marked "C" but the bolt its self is not marked with the MPC, What does this mean? Not a Colt bolt? I have no reason to believe that it has been changed but could someone please shed some light on this question. Thanks Jeff B http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c338/myoldstuf4u/gunbroker075.jpg

It should be there but sometimes its really hard to see. Generally just behind the lugs...its not stamped so much as etched on.

Yes I would agree with you, it should be there. It is on my CAR very heavy. Now my eyes are not the best at close up, I will try holding up to the light on the right angle and look for faint markings. What if its not there? Should I assume it's not Colt?
