I read somewhere that the last Garand made came off the line in 1957. Does anybody have the SN?

My M1 National Match, purchased from DCM at Camp Perry 1965 matches has serial number 6094778, and was produced toward the end of production.
It has a SA 6 56 barrel. It is still unfired with papers and beautiful burl wood.
I paid $148. for it, brand new.
6100499, also a NM, is the highest serial number known to date. As far as "the last Garand to come off the line", that is a question that I don't know if anyone has the answer to. It is believed that the last receivers were completed in mid 1956. Rifles continued to be assembled into 1957. It is also well known that the Springfield Armory held a ceremony on May 17, 1957 in which rifle # 6084405 was claimed to be the "last rifle made". It is known that 6084405 is not the highest serial number recorded but may have been the last service rifle assembled, as rifles were not assembled in serial number order. NM rifles were assembled on new receivers until 1959, between 1960 and 1963 they were all rebuilds. These "new receivers" were from stores as receiver production had ended mid 1956.
Most of the above is from an article by Bob Seijas in the Summer 2007 GCA Journal ( Featured Rifle - The Mysterious 6100202)
