I just had to do it...

The CMPicon North Store put out about a dozen Winchester rack grades for $595.00 each. This one just had too many interesting parts to turn it down.
The stock is pretty rough. I might be able to use the rear handguard. The butt stock looks like it might have been on a type I national match many moons ago. It has an X6 stamped in the heel and a four digit number on the butt. There is a faint serrifed circle P, but the DAS if there ever was one is long gone.

    Here is an overall view:

Early serial number. Winchester started at 100,001 so this is the equivalent of a SA five digit. Duff's little blue book puts it at Oct. 1941.

A nice Winchester op-rod (it has been modified):

The narrow base gas cylinder (SA) and the WRA front sight are nice.

The bonus part was this gas trap era trigger guard in very good condition:

That's a good catch, what's the inside got. What we see outside has lots of promise. And that serial # is hard to beat. That's the sort of thing that starts the full restoration.

Very nice. Personally I would put some RLO on the wood and call it good. The condition appears to match thoughout showing honest use. But then again, I like the been there done that look.
