My new to me IHC Garand

Recently picked up this 4.5 Mil. IHC Garandicon. It had a SA 11-65 barrel and the receiver leg has "SA 2-66" marked in electropencil". I have been told that this is a Springfield Armory rebuild mark. Can anyone provide any information on this.

It is as you were told, a SA rebuild in Feb. 1966. A lot of M1icon's were rebuilt in that time period as we were supplying the ARVN. Stock also looks like a birch replacement stock. These rifles are becoming collectables in there own right. I would leave the rifle as is and not change out any parts, especially if the parts on it appear to be original to the rebuild. The rebuild is part of the rifles history and that's how I would leave it.
