wow.... :yikes:
I'm not into bayonets specifically, but you'd have to be one serious collector to spend that much....

Is it me, or does the bending proof "X" look far less distinct than the EFD proofs next to it? I'd want to see this one in person before laying out that kind of coin. Maybe ask about the inspection/return policy before buying - just my humble opinion.

That's a really excessive price since they made over 500,000 and most were converted. I sold an Australian Hooked Quillion with matching scabbard for over $1,000 a few years ago and there were only about 5,000 manufactured.
If you watch the movie about the Australians fighting the Turks starring Mel Gibson you will see a number of hooked Quillions in the final scenes. I received a listing from England a few years ago listing the original hooked quillion 1907's for something like 50 pounds. I ordered 5 and they were sold out. Now there are Co's re-manufacturing 1907's with hooks for a reasonable price. So be careful when purchasing a 1907 HQ bayonet.

Actually, I read that the hooked quillions in Gallipolli (the Mel G flick you mentioned) were all repros welded up with quillions for the movie.

ive read that as well about the galipoli bayos , beware with these and know what you are buying ,
having said that 11/11 is a realistic date , and GR is correct for that date , the markings do deserve close inspection as this one is not well photographed for the value they have placed upon it , and the condition leaves much to be desired

mines in better condition and ive only ever thought to overvalue it at half that , i guess i need to rethink my plan :beerchug:

Even if all the marks are correct it could still be a fake. All it would take is a 1907 where the quillion had been removed and then replace the guard with one with a quillion. Then all the markings and condition would be correct.
Those are some incredible photos. I am assuming the other bayonet is the Japanese one the 1907 was based on?

Too expensive for me, could probably buy a No.1 in pretty good condition and a like new bayonet for that kind of money.

Over the last couple of years, i have seen a few go for about $1200 plus on ebay. However given the current state of the economy, i think you may be correct...for the immediate future.
I have one and am debating whether to sell or keep.

I never understood the obsession for gear that was not modded when most of them were. I can see them being worth more than modified one but definitely not 10 times as much. The Ross bayonets with the modified point are to me cooler than the ones with the butcher knife point because it almost certainly got used in the trenches and it has history.

A blatant statement of the most obvious. Edge Weapons of the 20th century are getting very expensive very fast. If I cashed out right now I will have made a very heavy profit. Its hard to believe a hobby that pays back, tax free, now if I could only convince my wife-SDH

You NEVER know when one will show up. I got one a few years ago when a chap at the Huntsville show had one in his hand in front of a table then chucked it back on the table saying "I'd never pay $65.00 for a Jap bayonet. Almost threw my back out getting to my wallet. You never know!!!! It was a Mole.

A square didn't mention that the second hooker on his picture is an Arisaka, is it one of the UK issued ones?
$1000 for a mint hooker in MkI scabbard isnt too far fetched, i just recently bought a Lithgow hooker for about that, though it is only v good and not mint. but the first i had ever seen. $2500 is more like an RFI starting bid, I have yet to see an RFI hooker, and it would be the same for a 1913 with quillion or one of th é colt marked examples.
