Strange code
I have an M1 Garand from Nov. 1944 that has a strange code on the right side of the stock near the buttplate. I don't have it handy at the moment but i belive the code is 12L1418. I've bener seen somethin like this and its got me puzzled. Any ideas? If it helps, I have not seen any proof or arsenal inspector stamps on the stock other then a "C" on the heel of the grip and a "3" inside the barrel channel. I know its a walnut stock with dings and dents as if its a wartime stock but the absence of stamp markings leaves me puzzled. Thanks for any help.

Not sure, but weren't navy garands stamped with a rack number like that.
I have one with something close to that. It has been modified where the 308 spacer goes in for clearance. Pic would help.
