I'm new and i'm looking for some info about my new garand.

The s/n of the bolt is something like "item number" or "serial number"

there is wite the number 6528287 is the end of production, means thare are many 6528287 ?

The 6528287-SA is the DRAWING NUMBER for the late production bolt. That is the actual drawing with all the specifications for the late production bolt. SA = Springfield Armory.

The Y01 is the HEAT LOT of the raw steel the bolt was machined from.

Late production bolts ALL have the same DRAWING NUMBER, but the bolts were made from many different shipments of steel to Springfield Armory, so there are many different HEAT LOT numbers stamped on late bolts.

Your bolt is one of the last ones made, but isn't very rare.

Yes, there are many, many thousands of late production bolts with the same DRAWING NUMBER. The US military did NOT stamp the rifle's serial number on bolts.

Short answer, Yes... The heat lot will determine exact vintage.

I think YO is Youngstown Sheet and Tube, called "Yellowbelly" because the ticker tape symbol was YB. I smile at YO bolts every time because I made a lot of money for my customers with it when I was a broker. Good memories
