Canadian No.4 trigger conversions

Did the Canadian Army ever consider doing the trigger conversion's to the Canadian No.4 rifles as the Brits did...that is the trigger was removed from the trigger guard,..and was mounted on the receiver,..or as the Brits refer it as the "body"...the theory being that this gives much better trigger let off .

Was curious if any Milsurp fans would know whether Canadian Arsenals might have done some conversions.

I don't believe they ever did. CAL built the Mk1* through the end of it's production.

Well, not really "better" trigger let off, just more consistant as it can't be affected by the stock swelling and shrinking as the atmospheric conditions change.

In answer to your question, yes SAL did experiment with at least 2 "action mounted" trigger systems.

There was the one that Savage developed and transfered to SAL when Savage production ceased in 1944.

There was also a home gown version utilized in the experimental trials "lightened rifle" illustrated in the Canadian section.

These are discussed in Skennerton's books LES and it's successor.

Paul Breakey owns a LB sniper with what he calls "an experimental Canadian trigger", but I haven't seen it illustrated yet.
