Is there a recommended web site with information on the Italian Carcano rifles? --TIA
Best website concerning Italian Carcanos and others is gunboards.com total online service for the gun owner and collector (http://www.gunboards.com), there could be others too.
Having just picked up a Calvary Carbine, I simply Googled Carcano and got all the info I needed.

Try The Carcano Page: website all of its own. Lotsa information there, even a really good bio of Salvatore Carcano.
Lots of input from Italian collectors, too, and some of them really take their Carcanos seriously, as is only right and proper.
Carcanos are just dandy rifles and they certainly do not rate the vast majority of the disdain which has been heaped on them since November 22, 1963. If Kennedy (NOT one of my favourite people) had been popped with an M-1, would all Garands have become instant dreck? I rather doubt it.
Just something to think about.

There is an EXCELLENT book on the Carcano written by Richard Hobbs done in 1996. It was a limited printing and I've been after Richard to do a reprint and hopefully he will. Unfortunately there is no ISBN number that I can give you for it, but I'll see if I can track Richard down and ask if he is still going to do a reprint or not. Complete book name is: The Carcano...Italy's Military Rifle by Richard Hobbs, published in 1996 and a second edition published in 1997. You might find a copy on some of the used book sites.
