Help - problem with premature ejection!

I recently sold a very nice M1icon Garand that I had for at least fifteen years, The buyer reported that it would not fire more than 3 rounds without the clip trying to eject with unfired rounds still in it. Can someone help me diagnose the problem. I never experienced this condition with the rifle. Thanks for any advice.

    You had no problem?

Now he does ? Did you supply the clips he has ? They may be after market or worn out and the notches won't hold.

If it's the gun , check the clip latch spring and the clip latch hook that grabs the clip. If OK , mike the "hump" on the bullet guide , the part of it that sets against the bbl. New should be .079 or so ( seen them to .082 ) , reject is .076 ( mine was down to .073 when replaced , same problem). If still nothing , you are going where I've never been. Check the follower arm for wear and straightness , check the mainspring fork for the same. ( these would affect the op-rod latch which , as you know , has an arm that works the clip latch).

No, I didn't supply the clips, and I don't know what ammo was used. I have asked. Unfortunately, the rifle is now several states away. It was shooting fine a couple on months ago using USGI clips and CMPicon surplus ammo.

GOOD NEWS! The buyer tried the rifle today with some HXP and different clips. Everything worked fine. I don't know if it was the clips or the ammo since they didn't answer my questions about either. Thanks all for the advice.
