A beautiful example of a WWII period Russian SVT-40 with all original military wood in milsurp class excellent condition. The metal may have been reblued (or touched up) at some point, as the bolt-carrier is blued rather than the usual "plumb" colour. This rifle is not a recent import and was in a private collection for over 10 years with less less than 30 rounds fired through it. This rifle is 1943 manufacture with all matching numbers on the Bolt carrier, Trigger Guard, and Receiver. The magazine bears no serial number. This rifle is in 95% condition with an excellent bore. It comes with the original sling and issued cleaning rod.

Tokarev Self-loading Rifle (SVT-40) History: by Jamie Mangrum (click here) (http://www.surplusrifle.com/svt40/index.asp)
The Samozaryadnaya Vintovka Tokareva (SVT-40) was designed by Soviet Arms Designer Fedor Tokarev. It was manufactured between 1940 and 1945. The SVT-40 is an improved and simplified rifle design over the SVT-38. During WWII SVT-40 rifles were highly prized captures by both German and Finnish troops. I have seen many pictures in books of German troops on the eastern front carrying the SVT-40 (or the German nomenclature of SIG.259r).
