    M1 Garand cleaning kit questions

    How do you use the T handle multi tool in a M1icon garand kit.....more specific how do you use it to disassemble the bolt ?

    Screw one piece of rod on then put the screwdriver end in the chamber. Carefully close the bolt on the tool. Start with the rod over to the right. Hold the bolt closed. Shift the rod to the left and the extractor will pop out. The firing pin is loose in the back and the extractor will come out the front. Some perform this with only the op rod and bolt in the receiver.

    Actually the screw area is not meant for use, other than as a cleaning rod. The hole in the handle is the proper way to use the rod to either loosen the lock screw, or remove the extractor. Screwing it in can bend or break the threaded area if under tension.
