The book covers the history, development and use of the Ross rifle and in particular its use and failure in the trenches. The Ross was eventually replaced by the Lee Enfield SMLE rifle. While the book contains other information and photos, it is primarily based on the monograph written by Col. Duguid in THE OFFICIAL HISTORY OF THE CANADIAN FORCES IN THE GREAT WAR, 1914-1919" which was published in 1938.
