GERMAN KAR. 98A RIFLE, DANZIG 1918, 1920 POLICE REISSUE

Completely original as brought back from WW2 as a souvenir. Has the 1920 property stamp on the left side of the butt. These rifles were transferred to the police after WWI, and this one has the hallmark dark red brown stock finish and all rust blued parts typical of those rebuilt and used by the Prussian police. Practically no two of these will be identical. This one has an N stamped in the side of the stock among the standard imperial acceptance marks. The stock matches, but is a pre-1915 version without takedown disc. The receiver serial was filed off and it was renumbered. The correct K98a bolt and bolt parts were also renumbered to match and the bolt of course blued. Stock number put on at time of rebuild when the buttplate was overstamped with the rifle number and the old unit marks x-d out. Bands renumbered also. With original WW2 era sling numbered "137" across the area exposed on the keeper on the right side. This rifle is 100% original as rebuilt in the 1920's or early 1930's. The only ones I have seen with police acceptance marks are those that have had a brand new barrel or brand new stock put on them.

CONDITION: Excellent. Bore slightly dark with sharp rifling. Stock with light handling marks, some blue wear on the edges and a little light rust. Even the guard screws match and has both lock screws.
