Description: This is a nice example of an assembled WWII production Canadian sniper rifle as manufactured by the Long Branch Arsenal. The side of the rifle is marked "No4MKI/LONG BRANCH/1944" and it has the correct "L" series serial number designating the Long Branch Arsenal. The front right of the receiver is marked "ENGLAND" over a "Crown / GP" proof mark. It also has the late war milled No. 4 MKI rear sight manufactured by the Savage Arms company. The walnut forestock and handguard set are proofed with the "Broad Arrow/C" and "A" proof just below a "B/32" just behind the front barrel band. The buttstock is marked with a "W / 6" in the grip area and the number "3" is stamped on the left side and it has a pot metal buttplate with a compartment. It is equipped with a Griffin & Howe type Canadian scope mount that is fitted with an early Lyman Alaskan 2 1/2 power scope. The mount is serial numbered "74L0006" and the scope has the commercial Lyman Gunsight corp markings on top of the tube, and it is serial numbered (44703) on the rear section of the tube and the side of the base for the windage knob is marked 4470S with a small stamped Broad Arrow proof.

Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains approximately 95% of the parkerized finish with light pitting on the barrel bands and trigger guard. The stock and handguard have been freshened and remain in excellent condition with scattered overall minor gouges, dents and dings. There is a 1 3/4" x 1 1/2" field repair on the heel of the stock. The scope is excellent with only a couple of light scratches and the optics are clear. The scope mount and scope appear to be original with a reproduction base that has been assembled to the rifle. A good example of a scarce rifle.
