GunBroker Auction for 1938 42 code K98k, bolt mismatch
Seller Says:
NOTE* This rifle is located in Canada. I can easily transfer and ship to any Canadian destination, and am more than willing to ship to the UNited States, however it is the buyers responsibility to organize the import/export. I'll be happy to assist in any way necessary to complete the paperwork, but I cannot set up the process. For sale: 1938 Oberndorf "42" code K98k. This rifle is all original and matching right down to the locking screws and the barrel band spring. The only non-matching part is the bolt which is unserialed, but marked with firing proofs and WaA's shown in the following pictures. The stock and handguard are both original to the rifle and are numbered internally, as well as on the bottom of the buttstock. Stock WaA's are fairly faded but still discernable. The stock isn't sanded and is in remarkable condition for a pre-war rifle, made of red-glue laminate. This rifle has obviously seen service, and has some pitting around the action, mostly under the woodline, as well as on the rear barrel band. It looks like the rifle must've lied on its side in the mud for a few weeks before being picked up. I've done my best to provide detailed pictures of the pitted areas. Have a look at the pictures, I think they should testify to the originality of the rifle. The locations of all serial numbers are shown, and I think the only WaA's I missed are those on the side of the trigger, opposite the serial number. They are present however. Please feel free to direct any questions you might have to me. I'll try to answer them as quickly as I can. Within Canada shipping and insurance is a flat $25, and I'll charge actual shipping to the US depending on the import/export process. PayPal, or a money order, or a check is fine as far as payment goes, within Canada EMT works as well. Enjoy the pics, there are quite a few:
[Information added 09/25/2007 3:06:19 PM]
Edit: Also visible in the pictures is a small split in the laminate near the heel of the stock. The piece is still firmly attached and serviceable, This is why they switched to cupped buttplates. Edit: I forgot to mention the bore condition, which is still quite strong and serviceable, but is quite dark as well. I couldn't really get a picture of the rifleing.
