And now for a REAL TREAT!!!!!!!!

This beauty walked into the last WAC show and came straight to my tables... It has a "keyhole" magazine......

    A 4 digit 1911 Army shipped on September 11, 1912.....

Note the very rare second type mag release..... Naturally, it never left my table!!!!!!

And it came in this U.S. Mint bag, which is a collectors item in it's own right!!! Ah, life is GOOD!

She sure is a beauty, John! I really enjoyed discussing this one with you at the show that day. It was a real thrill to handle one of these early pieces of Colt history, and I'd like to thank you for taking the time to show it to me. You sure have some wonderful 1911's in your collection. Thanks again for sharing.

Len, when I acquired this Colt I completely disassembled it. And that was easier said than done. I don't believe that it had ever been taken apart since the day it left Colt!!! I had to soak the pins and the stock screws and carefully work them out!!! There was some rust under the stocks, however I was able to remove and stabilize the rust. One of the stock screw bushings backed out with the stock.... It really looks better than the photos and since you have seen and handled it, you know what I mean!!!

John, I will never get tired of looking at the pictures of the Early Colt. You definately have a professional way about you when it comes to taking great pictures.

You can go over to this web site and take a look at the different mags that Colt had through the years of manufacture.

Thanks. I would never have thought of there being that cut . I was guessing the mag lock-in cut.
