Seller Says:
Offered for auction is a Canadian REL Mk2 sniper rifle telescopic sight with the original bracket. It bears the markings: TEL STG C No32 Mk2. COS 1650A. REL CANADA. 6XX-C. The telescope is otherwise unmarked except for the numbers on the range and deflection drums and a little WD arrow. It comes complete with a brown leather set of eye caps. The bracket is marked 71L 05XX
This telescope was removed from a No4T sniper during 1971 prior to it being converted to L42 spec. This telescope was due to be converted to L1A2 but was rejected and a Mk3/L1A1 fitted instead. The telescope was retained as a spare in a dingy old cupboard should the need arise but then disposed of when the Base workshop closed in the late 80’s by an Armourer who thought it’d fit his air rifle. The tube is an oily blued steel finish and doesn’t look as though it’s ever been tampered with or butchered since it was manufactured or removed from the rifle. I have however, had the telescope lenses cleaned inside and out. The bracket is also blued but one or two of the cradle screws have been very slightly graunched by the Armourers while attempting to remove them. Apart from this, you can rightly assume that the telescope and bracket are in mint condition ….., certainly given their age!
I have the rifle details on the bracket and the old OHMS label that I will pass on to the subsequent owner.
If it makes more than £50 (or £70 for abroad) I will pay the standard postage. Can’t say fairer than that can I
Item located in Abingdon, Oxon, United Kingdom
SOLD for $2,136.87 U.S.
