Seller Says:

I'm told that Samworth books are quite collectible; I have several that I bought more than 30 years ago as part of a 300 book collection of gun, hunting and related books that were owned by one of the founders of the Pabst Brewing Company.

This little gem, consisting of 350+ pages, was written by Captain C. Shore of the British Sniper School, published by Small Arms Technical Publishing Company of Plantersville,SC and copyrighted by Thomas Samworth in 1948.

This mint condition book with it's intact original dust jacket is a wonderful addition to any gun library as it was wriiten just shortly after the end of the war by a man who had "been there".

Complete with experiences in the field, organization of the British Officer Sniping school and the reverential homage paid to the effectiveness of sniping during WW2, the author does a masterful job in illuminating (at a very early time) that which had been previously looked down upon as "un-gentlemanly and certainly not sporting.

There's plenty of photos of Mausers, Enfields and pictures of Brits before the advent of the "Ghilley Suit', but the real treat is the text - it's fascinating.

Samworth books are highly collectible but this is the only one that goes into great detail on sniping and the training thereof.

$9.95 to start and with no small amount of trepidation, I have NO RESERVE on this great book.

NOTE: Stay tuned, I'm starting to break up a rather significant gun library and there will be other Samworth titles coming.

Sold for $83.82 U.S.
