Any info or ideas on where to look? Good enough to put in the safe and research or should I just hang them on the wall and call it a day?

I would try and take them apart to look at the metal and wood that is not exposed. Does it look like honest age, grime in the nooks and crannies? If I paid a lot for them I would put them in a safe untill I was sure if they were real or copies. They would look good in glass covered shadow box's. Try asking on the BP section on CSP. You could also try asking the people at Dixie gun works. They've been in the black powder buisness a long time and may be able to point you in the right direction.

Please excuse my drastic opinion. I can only go by the photos, and may be completely wrong.

But that kind of exaggerated decoration with brass shim pressed to look like a molding is something which, up to now, I have only seen in shops selling tourist tat souvenirs. They look about as genuine as a concrete parachute, and are about as safe to use.

Sometimes these things are made up using real old bits, but the giveaway is that ugly pressed brass shim decoration, used to optically upgrade bits of a wreck for buyers who think more decoration = more valuable. It is completely non-functional, even contra-functional and in fact makes the things much worse to hold than plain wood. Take one in your hands and try to imagine loading, aiming and firing it, and I think you will understand

An antidote to rubbish is to a) look at as many genuine firearms as you can, b) hold and fire as many genuine firearms as you can. You will quickly develop a feeling for what is plausible, and what is not. Get a couple of books and visit museums with serious collections, and you will not see this brass-shim nonsense at all.

I would not advertise my ignorance of firearms by even hanging them on the wall. OK, apologies to all who may feel offended by my opinion. But that is it. I may, of course be wrong, in which case, I await enlightenment.

Well my question was where to research these weapons and if anyone had any info on where I could research them and if they had any value or if they were decorator grade.
They may be tourist trap pieces or perhaps not.
