IS there a CMP for service 1911's

Where can one go to find service 1911's? I want to acquire one that is pre-1960.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. No there isn't. CMPicon is not by law allowed to sell pistols. The 1911's and A1's that were surplused and not sent to other countries overseas went to the big crusher per order of Bill Clinton. The best place to find any 1911 or A1 is the on line auction sites and the want to sell and want to buy listings here.

LBJ stopped the sale of any military pistols to U.S. citizens 1n 1968. Prior to that the 1911/1911A1 and quite a few .22 pistols had been sold through the NRA/DCM.

Also, the last 1911A1 pistols were made in 1945.[COLOR="black"]

And when you find them the nice ones don't come cheap - plus you need to do your homework and make sure you are getting what you pay for
