Hello,

I talked with a man today who has a rifle that he is interested in selling. He said that his brother got it at Pearl Harbor in 1942 and later gave it to him. He said it is a .22, and he also said that it is a "9 shot." I couldn't find anything matching that description, unless he misspoke and meant it was a handgun, or he was incorrect about the "9 shot" part. What kind or kinds of .22 training rifles did the U.S. use, and do they have much value today?

Thanks,
Jim

It's tough to help much without a little more information, like who the manufacturer was. Pictures would help of course. There are a few different .22 trainers that the US used during the war years.

Well, it's too late now, I checked it out and a couple of the parts were plastic, so I passed on it, and it wasn't in great shape overall. It turned out to be a Mossberg 142-A.
