"And They Walk Among Us.... " Part Two (I think)

A bit of a puzzling heading to some, but others may recognise it from a while back. Yes, it's happening again... The Lee Enfield equivalent of the Darwin Awards!
Get a load of this cracker...!
(copy pasted from another place, with the names changed to protect the guilty)

    ==============================

I second the motion lollyman; I quit going to most other forums simply because certain idiots felt that they 1. had achieved god-like status, and 2. felt like the forums were only there for venting personal problems or dislikes at others. They had forgotten about information exchange and helping others; that's why I come here! And on a lighter note: When you talked about the DP rifle restoration: Have you ever restored one to firing condition for yourself? I've got two; a 1917 No. 1 MkIII, and a 1942 No.1 MkIII, both were DP's, and both are now fully restored and are great shooters. My son and I are gunsmiths, and specialize in this type of gunsmithing. I am just curious if you had self-indulged to this point.

P.S. Thanks for your efforts, alot of us appreciate it!

I haven't posted this to cause debate on the topic, but rather to invite input from anyone who has seen something that flies in the face of either fact or common sense with regard to Lee Enfields.... I'm not sure how many here would trust this particular business anymore....

Wow, I hope they have good liability insurance. Converting LE DP rifles back to shooting condition flies in the face of common sense. Especially if the hardening in the locking recesses of the receivers is worn through and the reason for DP status in the first place. To quote a very good friend: "What do i know? I'm only a mere armorer!"

"My son and I are gunsmiths, and specialize in this type of gunsmithing".

And just what would that type of gunsmithing be called? Bubba'ed? Dumbarsed? SuemeImstupid?

I shudder to think I might be on the range with these types.

But dare not speak out on the forum where this nonsense was written. Only a few are allowed to oppose there otherwise you are just a a bad mannered troll.

Speaking of bad mannered trolls, that accusation was used again on that same forum and another couple of threads locked.

Are not these forums for 'discussion' and does that not mean taking into account a variety of ideas, thoughts and concepts ?

When we are 'in real life' (face to face) having a discussion do we not often end up not only disagreeing but wandering of at tangents ?

Why is it that some forum's end up locking down the thread (or banning the poster) if either of the above appear on their threads ?

However - I do fully agree that there is no need (or room) for personal attacks and fortunately the biggest culprit seems to have dissapeared from virtually all of the forums.
I'm sure we wouldnt act aggresively or 'attack' our friends in a face to face discussion so why should it happen when we are 'protected' by the annonimity of the internet.
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

Totally agree, mate. What I find funny is their insistance of continually dragging the discussion board through the trophy room where all their "kills" are lined up.
"Hey, looky here..." (beating chest with own fist) I singlehandedly wrestled this evil beast to keep our little fiefdom safe... now, line up and tell me how great I am!"
They even invite newcomers to spit on the corpses... Someone very dear to me is on their wall...

PS... I have another entry for this thread soon...

I think I know what forum your talking about, I just got a good kicking to over there. But I must say the head mod PM'd me and was very reasonable and we left on good terms. Not all mods are equal.
