    1944 Lithgow No1Mk|||*

    First post here although I do post in other various forms, I have a question concerning a 1944 Lithgowicon No1Mk|||*, Serial # F194XX, The rifle is a numbers matching, non import and not a FTR.

    Just got her last week and the only thing that I can find wrong with her is someone gave her a good coat of varnish or poly that I intend taking off in a couple of days and that she doesn't have a rear sight protector.

    My question is, since the rear sight has no windage adjustment would the correct protector be offset for a windage knob ( assuming the factory would use whatever they had on hand ) or would the vertical be straight. also would there be any sort of stamping marks or numbers on this piece that I should look for ?

    I hope to find the correct protector this weekend at OGCA.

    Thanks in advace

    Terry

    Not sure if the information or photo montage helps you, but I thought I'd post it anyway ...

    It would have the offset...the only one that didn't was the later Indian version. One of Lithgowicon's feeder factories would've produced the original. I've got one marked 'OA', IIRC.
