Pattern 18 ocular lenses for Austrailan scopes ONLY are available

There are a few sets of ocular lenses for the Pattern 18 Australianicon scope available. I had a small run of lenses done during the days of the old Culvericon Shooting Page Lee Enfield board. It appears that I lost touch with those who had expressed an interest other than one person.
Anyhow, I do have the lenses available and my actual cost on them is $91.87 each or $183.75 for the pair. The price is for a complete lens as these are achromatic lenses made of two elements. You need two lenses for a "lens-less scope". These are quality lenses of crown and flint glass and have been checked by an oculist and found to be of the highest quality. I can give you the spec's if you can understand the engineering "gobbledygook".
I only have a few sets available and shipping is extra, at cost.
If you are interested let me know via a PM and I will contact you privately.
I cleared this post with Badger as I was hesitant of putting basically a "for sale" item in the forum as we thought they would get lost there and not get to those who are looking for a set of lenses.
The Auzzie lenses will not fit the Britishicon Patt: 18 scope , as these are thinner and slightly different in focal length. This has been verified from "down under".

I think that they'll fit Warren but willl need to be spaced rearwards from the image end so that the 'slack' is at the front end of the lens set. This will lengthen one part of the optical system in relation to the optical whatsit of the lens set BUT you will still be able to focus the grat with the erector cell. With me so far.........

What WILL change is that now, the image will need to be re-focussed with the OG lens. This might decrease the magnification slightly. This might be incorrect as I'm not working with an optical table or with the acual lenses but drawing it out!!!!!

However, if the magnification is smaller, then you COULD reverse the ocular spacing so that the 'slack' is at the eye end of the ocular lens system.

Sniper from the valleys has tried to interchange but ............ Some No32 ocular and erector cell lenses are thick and thin duplo convex and plano ..... and all sorts - and we have interchanged these in the past, using the erector and OG to bring everything into focus. Food for thought?

The spacers are different. Valley and I have discussed this at length. The 32 OG lens use for an ocular lens present a LOT of unnecessary work and jury rigging. Why play around when the correct lenses are offered ??? The lenses are different as are the spacers. You can get almost anything to work with the correct formula. It just becomes a matter of correctness. If you really want to see a pigs breakfast of lenses play with the Israeli 32 scopes.

Re Britishicon Model 18 scope Lenses and Ozzie pattern 18 lenses, here’s what I know and the dimensions given are bound to be subject to slight dimensional differences:

British Model 18 ocular lens diameter 27.73 MM
Ozzie Pattern 18 ocular lens diameter 28.03 MM

British Model 18 ocular lens thickness 7.50 MM
Ozzie Pattern 18 ocular lens thickness 8.16 MM

British Model 18 ocular lens sprung spacer thickness 7.50 MM
Ozzie Pattern 18 ocular lens solid spacer thickness 6.92 MM

Since thread took off I tried:

A set of British ocular lenses with Brit spacer in an Ozzie Pattern 18 scope and they appeared to work fine although there is slack in ocular bell that would have to be taken up with either an added spacer or deeper set outer lens retaining ring dependant on final position of ocular lens position after fine adjusting of all lenses.

Also tried first Ozzie Pattern 18 back ocular lens in British Model 18 scope and went in 6 or 7 mm and then seized in tube and then the lens would not come out. After much swearing and by heating up ocular bell with hairdryer to expand bell and using my trusty sucker lens removal tool the lens eventually came out. So in my opinion the original Ozzie ocular lens are too wide for Brit scope though no doubt if diameter ground carefully down a little they would work.

The No 32 OG lens would just fall through Model 18 ocular bell.. What I discussed with both yourself and Peter was if either of you had ever tried a No 32 OG lens to replace a Model/Pattern 18 scope OG lens? I don’t think either of you had and as Peter has now got some original Model/Patt 18 OG lenses on loan from me to get his optical guy to duplicate, I have now placed my order for one when arrive.

I think Peter just referred to No 32 ocular lenses and erector cells just to highlight that there are some differences in the No 32 and No 42 & 53 manufactures lenses which we discussed recently as I did with you. You can for example get a set of erector cell lenses from a certain manufacturers 53 scope to work in a WW1 British Aldis scope with some success but reversing lens sequence in Aldis erector cell to that in a No 32 cell. Unfortunately I forgot to write down the manufacturer, but it was the only set that would ‘drop in’ to the existing Aldis erector cell, other No 32/42/53 erector cell lenses were to wide.

My AOC scope has a slight amount of delamination of the ocular lenses just around the outer circumference, is it possible to 'repair' this, or are new lenses the only way to go?

Yes it is possible to de-laminate your original lens remove old Canadaicon Balsam and re-balsam again with either filtered Canada Balsam or modern UV curing optical epoxy based cement. Warren, Peter and I are all capable of doing this and there are one or two scope repairers down under also more than capable.

Warren, Taff and others reading this. It's not that I disbelieve or even disagree with your assertation about the differences between the Aust and UKicon lenses (Ignore the No32's - I just threw them in as a comparison.....) It's just that both the UK and Aust telescopes are mechanically identical (?) have the same magnification, do the same job but with marginally different optical systems. JUST like some No32's. We can mix and match No32 lenses (within the bounds of optical reason of course, but not always....) so I am pressed to understand why we haven't managed it with UK and Aust Patt 18's.

For my part, I only ever see one of either sort once in a blue moon so I'm not in a position to accurately draw out the optical scematics on a pin table. But, I have a gut feeling that the interchangeability of the lens systems could be overcome. But it won't be me that works it out!
