    Why would a No1 Mk3 be stamped 1988?

I was at the orange County gunshow a few years back and saw a very clean No1 Mk3 clearly and unmistakable stamped 1988 on the wrist. At this time I don't recall the makers mark, but have always assumed Ishapore. I'm thinking the general cut off time for the No1 Mk3 is ... 1960 ish? any thoughts or know when? But what I meant to ask is how would a 1988 No1 Mk3 come about? The stamped looked correct, it wasn't jovino and the rifle was very clean and stock so I don't think it was khyber pass, even though thats a year date they seem to roll out occasionally.

And, would I be fairly accurate in thinking No4 Mk1 T snipers are all 1942-1945?
