View Full Version : 6,3x53R mm Finnish hunting cartridge
This cartridge was developed before WW2 in Finland by necking down the 7,62x54R to 6.3 mm. In Finland, this cartridge was used as a long range hunting cartridge. Post WW2 use continued until it was replaced by better cartridges. An old SAKO factory loading was a 70 gr bullet at 2936 fps.

This sounds like a distant cousin of the .243... Not related in development for sure... But a nice analog where the .308 is the parent case to the .243, etc...
