Dude, that is one UGLY M44 mod. I like the sling :) The original leather slings are uncommon in Canada :)

Well, to explain the camo'd M44............
I was given an M38 with a bubba'd stock. It had a piece of wood added to the top of the butt to give it a more "straight-line" style and a recoil pad added. Stock fubar, metal good.
I bought a $75 Polish M44 for the stock and put the M38 in it.
So there I was with cans of BBQ paint and Krylon OD and a ruined stock, so I "improved" it.;) The RDS is just sitting on top of the rear sight.
No actual milsurp part was reduced in value by me. Too bad I can find the pic of it with the 6 volt flashlight duct taped to the forearm. :p

Nope, the woods ruined. The top of the butt was reshaped and an extra piece screwed and glued on. Then it looks like the guy used a handsaw to square off the butt before adding the recoil pad. Handguard's split too.
That's why I painted it. No loss at all. I'd never mangle anything in original condition.

Looks like the nagant abomination rests upon a waxed case of LB magazines...
I know where you got that from (wink wink)

FWIW Stevo, I meant that proper Russian M44 stocks are cheap on the bay ;)

It's the wax paper and tar wrapped 7.62x54R Hungarian light ball from Districorp. Sorry to disappoint.

Ah, gotcha now.
