Picked up this GSW manufactured Brodie today. MkI, 1941 dated. Liner is dated 1951. I believe this was used after the war by the Dutch. I understand that GSW stands for General Steel Wares, a Canadian company. Would this helmet have been used by the Americans as well? Enjoy the pics..

That's a great helmet Anzac15. I think the finish has been stripped and repainted - All I've seen used a sawdust texture.

If I had it I'd display it with one of these WWII vintage nets. This net was also used by American GI's through most of WWII, but they were originally made for British helmets. They're super easy to install too - There's a tie-string on them that you just pull to tighten the net down. I like the way they look, and if you had one on it would cover up the shiny finish. (Just what I'd do)

Yep, that's exactly what I was planning to do, Harlan. It was just too nice to pass up. Will make a nice addition to the collection.

GREAT Minds think alike Anzac15! ;) I think it'll look very nice with a net, and they're inexpensive. The net will also cover up the small dents, etc.
It's definitely NICE! The interior is in awesome condition too, and many are in terrible condition due to age rotting alone.

These nets are authentic. I bought one from the same guy for an M1 helmet I have and it passed the 'smell' test quite easily!

Great Britain manufactured tons of these and gave them to the US as part of their lend-lease repayment and there were MANY left over at the end of WWII.
