    1917 Colt M1911

This one doesn't show much use at all. Shipped 24 August 1917 to Springfield Armory. It's hard to imagine a whole shipment of pistols looking this good...but I guess they did. And who thinks we're so much more advanced today? I'll bet Colt would struggle today to turn out anything with so much detailed workmanship. In fact, I'd say most any modern manufacturer would have a tough time. And to think, this was just M-F everyday work to those guys back then.
