One of them pistols you hope is worth what it cost...

I'm sure that's what the original owner thought when he paid about 5 times as much for this pistol as what a standard DCM purchase M1911 cost in those days. In 1960, this Springfield Armory NM pistol from 1959 sold for $80.00 plus $2.85 S/H. Standard DCM pistols sold for $17.00 total, delivered.

There were only 9 total 1959 SA NM pistols sold to the public. The remainder were reworked for the next NM competition. The fellow who purchased this pistol was really thorough in the way he kept records. He retained (and I got) every single piece of correspondence he had with the military and his police department. There were dozens of pieces of paperwork, including the 1959 NM manual, sales receipt and purchaser's copy of the money order he used to pay for the pistol.

OK...Where do I start? Rem Rand with Colt slide (mis matched) refinished (the arsenal stamp makes it a legit rework at least) grips are all wrong and the sites are not original by far ruining any collector value what so ever and I'm sure the small parts have been all jumbled up making this a put together parts gun?

So Where am I going wrong? As In one way I'm poking fun as I know it's "rare" and it has "documentation" but it reads like a 6-800 dollar shooter otherwise?

Oh it does look nice and pretty....

I wish that rationale would have worked with the seller when I acquired it, but I knew he was too sharp to even go there. The first thing he said when he handed this one over was "You're gonna like this".
