    Back to M1911A1 Small Parts...

On "collector's Guide to Colt .45 service pistol from M Charles W. Clawson"
At page 69 we can read; In April 1943, serrated slide stops, safety locks and mainspring housings were approved as an alternate method of manufacture.
Remington rand began manufacturing serrated slide stops in about July 1943, followed later by serrated safety locks.
In my opinion RR never adopted to EOP serrated safety locks!!!
Did you encountered this method? For as far as I know only Ithaca adopted serrated safety locks at about 1943 #880'000.
    Thanks for your comments...

Remington Rand presented the serrated safety lock to the Pistol Integration Committee and it was approved for production, but Remington Rand never used it. Ithaca began using it in the July/August 1943 time period.

Thanks for your reply Johnny Peppers, good to have accurate infos that's a great help when we wanna buy a M1911A1. I found an info that you probably know about mainspring housings: Colt at the EOP and Ithaca has 7 ribs and Remington Rand 8 ribs, I saw today a beautiful RR all correct, but it has a serrated mainspring housings with 7 ribs!!
