Colt 1911A1 (1943)

Hello Gents,

I'd just like to share my newest acquisition with all of you. It's a Colt 1911A1 manufactured in 1943. As far as I can tell, all of the parts are correct and it has never been refinished. The serial number on the frame matches the serial number on the slide but I didn't photograph it. It's got some holster wear so I assume it was issued during WWII. I've seen minty ones with absolutely no wear on them at all but I feel lucky to have this one because I'm located in Canada and understandably we don't have many up here. Thankfully there aren't any import marks on it, can anyone speculate as to how it made its way north of the 49th parallel?

Bubba did his best to pry out the slide stop, and when that didn't work he tried to beat it out from the other side. Otherwise, appears original.

Hard to say how it made it to Canada. Could have come back there after the war. Could have come in with someone across the border undeclared. Could have been imported. Anyone's guess...

Back about 9-10 years ago I bought a US&S 1911A1 from a dealer who'd imported several dozen 1911 & A1's from a shipment from Asia that was diverted from New York as I recall due to U.S. import rules. All were sorted by maker, some correct and some mixed parts as appeared they'd gone through a U.S. refurb. Believed left in Vietnam when U.S. pulled out.
