Anyone know where there is a free on-line downloadable copy of this multi volume book? Oroginally written for the US Navy I believe.

There is no free download that I am aware of. You probably will have to pay for it. The reprints are available and you are probably looking at 4 to 700.00 for the set ( four volumes with volume 5 addendum). A lot of the info is beyond the scope of the average person's interest. It is more for the advanced researcher.

Volumes 1-4 are in the public domain. Volume 5 was published privately and is copyrighted --which is why free downloads of it are not legally available.

I picked up a couple volumes of this set at Bud Haynes gun auction last year. They were from DAT's estate. Good reading and good reference. |A steal for the very few dolars I paid for them, even cheaper than the CDs.

Guess I will have to start keeing an eye out for the missing volumes.

Note: After you click on images to ENLARGE them, you may find they automatically size smaller in your browser's window making them harder to view. The auto sizing is your browser's way of keeping images entirely within the screen size you have set. Move your mouse pointer to the bottom centre of the pic and you will see an options panel appear. There will be a small square box next to the large X, which will have a pointer arrow sticking out of it. If it's illuminated, it means the pic you're viewing can be enlarged, so click on this box and the pic will EXPAND and open to its normal size.
