I picked up a Yogo SKS today at the Allentown Pa. gunshow. I wasn't planning to buy one but this one caught my eye, near mint condition, the bayonet was crudely welded in place with bluing over the weld. The grenade launcher was also crudely welded in place and it too was blued over. The thing that really got me is the pistol grip, I've never seen one on these guns, one side has crude checkering and the other has none. The dealer said he got it straight from the importer as is. I wasn't aware they did that type of thing. The overall condition is very nice, I'm not sure if I am going to de-grease it and take it for a test drive or not, time will tell-SDH

I have never seen (nor received) one from any of the importers or distributors like that.
. . . Could have been a bored Yugoslavian soldier with a lot of time on his hands (and access to a welder).

This may well be the case, but, the rifle just came directly from one of those distributers as a mint condition weapon, I still have the paper work and inventory tag (SOG). It is indeed a mint weapon except for the welding and pistol grip. Do you think they may have offed the offending solder for defacing property of the people? You got to figure where they originated.-SDH

Well, I for one would certainly like to see pics of this thing - especially the pistol grip and welded areas. Sounds very odd.

Easy enough to take the pics, but how to post them is a different story. When I get a break, I'll give it a try-SDH

Option 2 is probably what you want. Least number of steps.
