    when was my 1911 made?

    I have a Colt 1911 that I want to know year it was made. serial number is 266266 I bought it 30 years ago to have one. any one Know?

    Thanks, It's history would not be documented, so I'll use my imagination. It is in a holster marked "Sears".

    Thanks, were they shipped with holster or extra magazines? This has a filled US double pouch. canvas pouch made by PB&Co 10-1918.

    The Model 1911 Colts were built under contract, and the contract only called for the pistol and one magazine. The holsters and magazine pockets were purchased from various other contractors by the military.
