FYI for you folks that have some big bucks. Rock Island Auction House has an auction coming up April 24-27. Just got a flyer today and noticed a RB M1903 listed. Website is www.rockislandauction.com

I'd have PLENTY of money for a rifle like that. I'd just have to figure out how to keep it safe after I ended up divorced and living in an appliance carton under the freeway overpass!!!:rofl:

I'm in the same boat. Of course I could cask in that 401k (what's left of it), but somehow I don't think the Missus would appreciate my "alternate method of investment". :lol:

About six months ago I told a banker friend I was thinking of taking all my money out of my 401(k) and putting half in gold, and the other half in ammunition. I should have listened to my own advice. My friend agreed, but neither of us acted on it.

I should have moved my money last summer. Never dreamed what would happen. Nobody knew is was going to be like this. My 401K is a 101K at this point.

The way things are looking,maybe some non-perishable food and water would be a good addition to gold and ammo!

That auction site has some great collectibles on it, but man look at some of those prices. Still it's fun to just window shop.

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1/TGCJ/DSC00403.jpg Be sure and look closely at how the base pin fits on the rear sight base and how the front sight stud pin fits on the front sight. These pins were fitted and milled flat before the rifle was finished. If the pins are not flush with the sight base and nearly invisible the sight bases have probably been removed and re-fitted. The RB M1903 pictured on page 21 of '03 SPRINGFIELD SERVICE RIFLE by Bruce Canfield is a good example of what a non-arsenal fitted RB sight base looks like.
