A couple questions about my Range Officer

Not a milsurp 1911 but I could use some help.
First off how do I remedy this?

It seems to be hitting here.

In spite of the bad pictures you can just see the dent in the case and the brass on the edge of the ejection port. Would a bit stronger recoil spring be the answer?
Second question. How is it that my nice big fat reloadable 45acp cases get lost for eternity while those pipsqueak useless pieces of crap 22 LR brass stick out like a sore thumb?

I would just run 'em through the die and not worry about modifying the pistol.
Are you shooting factory or roll your own?

Factory 230 hb from various manufacturers. They all at least the ones I found had the dent. This thing really slings the brass out there.

Maybe increase the strength of your recoil spring. You can get progressively stronger springs and this will tame the distance it throws the empties. Your spring could be about done...

It could still need a stronger spring. They make stronger than factory spec...they're for the guys that shoot majors and such. Here's a page for you to read from Brownells...

This is strictly a range gun so it's not a matter of life and death so other than the frustration aspect I feel safe in trying a simple spring change. I am planning on eventfully trying an old favorite load featuring 200 grain lead semi wad cutters.
