    Colt government commercial model 1947

I have a colt commercial model 1911A1 ser c 231720 I believe it was made in 1947 has about 70% of bluing left it seems to be a org, has the large circle colt horse logo in middle of grips they are plastic, my questions are the barrel has no markings on it what so ever? Some say this is correct for this years colt, some say that they used ww2 left over parts (barrels) and grinded off the makers mark? Some say they were not mark ? The barrel seems to match the rest of the pistol, anybody could help me with this I would be really helpful, also any ideas on the value of if, I would post pics but being old I don,t know how, I am thinking about trading for a org, m1 carbine in the future, any info good or bad will be appreciated. Thanks in advanced. John

Your Government Model dates to 1947/48, and a Colt archives letter would give you the exact shipping date. By your serial number Colt had gone to new production barrels with no markings.

The unmarked barrels didn't run very long - they soon began to stamp them 'COLT .45 AUTO' on top in small font. This lasted until the MK IV Series '70.
